Ember Tables ("we," "us," "our") operates the website at embertables.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We keep this page up to date as our features evolve.
What we collect now
- No accounts yet. We do not currently collect names, emails, or other personal identifiers.
- Local storage only. We store gameplay preferences and ratings in your browser's localStorage (e.g., your Chess/Chess960 Elo and UI settings). This stays on your device unless you clear it.
What we may collect soon (when accounts launch)
If you create an account, we may collect:
- Identifiers (e.g., username, email).
- Gameplay data (e.g., matches, ratings, preferences).
- Communication (e.g., support messages).
We'll update this policy when accounts go live and before any new collection starts.
Cookies, local storage, and similar tech
- LocalStorage (current): Used to remember your ratings and preferences.
- Cookies (current/future): We and our partners may use cookies or similar technologies for basic site operations, analytics, and advertising (including frequency capping, fraud prevention, and interest-based ads where permitted).
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use or may enable Google AdSense to show ads. AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Serve and measure ads.
- Personalize ads based on your visits to this and other sites (where allowed).
- Prevent fraud and abuse.
Your ad choices:
- You can manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

- LocalStorage: persists on your device until you clear your browser data or reset in-site settings.
- Account data (future): retained while your account is active and as needed for legal, security, and operational purposes; then deleted or anonymized.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we handle. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). If you believe a child provided us personal information, contact contact@embertables.com.
International transfers
If we process personal data across borders, we'll use appropriate safeguards required by law (e.g., standard contractual clauses) and rely on consent where needed.
Changes to this policy
